In Irving, it is against the law to leave your pet unattended in a vehicle. This law applies year round, not just when it is hot outside. The penalty for breaking the law is that your pet may be taken from you. Breaking any pet laws in the City of Irving can also net you a fine of up to $2,000.

Windshield Repair Raises Customer's Insurance Rate

A few days ago, one of my new windshield repair customers told me he wanted to pay cash because USAA raised his insurance rate by $15 a month after he filed a rock chip repair claim. At $15 a month, he will pay $180 for that windshield repair over the course of a year! Ouch. Most companies do not raise your rates, however, it might be a good idea to ask your agent before filing a claim. Just remember to tell your agent or claims representative that you want GlassLogic Windshield Repair to fix your windshield so they don't send you to some other repair shop. Of course, everyone's circumstances are different... it is possible this customer had other accident claims during the same year. How to tell if a Rock Chip is Repairable

When you get a rock chip on your windshield, the first thing you need to do is figure out if it is repairable or not. Take a dry cloth and lightly rub the area to see if the rock chip comes off! Believe it or not, I get called out to fix 'rock chips' that are nothing more than dirt stuck to the windshield. To avoid a service call, check that the glass is actually cracked. Next, look at the size including the cracks that extend from the impact point. Is the break the size of a dime, nickle, or quarter? If so, it can be repaired. In other words, a small break with one or two cracks extending from it and the whole thing is less than 1.25 inches, IS repairable. In that case, call me at 972-983-8571 for an appointment. One more thing, bullseyes and cracks that have already been repaired cannot be repaired again.

Replace the windshield wipers if they are worn or damaged.
Make sure the wiper fluid reservoir is full and keep spare fluid in the trunk.

Health Alert: Skimping on Wiper Fluid May Increase Risk of Legionnaires' Disease

The Health Protection Agency (HPA) in the UK reports that a recent study shows a possible link between using plain water in the windshield washer reservoir and sporadic cases of Legionnaires' disease, a form of pneumonia.

The HPA suggests further study is needed to determine if using washer fluid will decrease the risk of contracting the disease.

For your safety, until further studies prove or disprove the Legionnaires' disease link, we at GlassLogic suggest adding wiper fluid to the windshield washer reservoir instead of using plain water only. Wiper fluid is cheap and can be purchased by the gallon at Walmart, Target, or any auto parts store.
